The Creator

Gavelle was born a conductor of creative energy.

As a child, she would draw pages upon pages of spirals, which she later recognized in the sequences of the natural world. Her signature pays homage to the intrinsic spirals.

The first medium she had an affinity for was sculpting, spending hours carving out detailed villages and telling everyone she wanted to be a “sculpture” when she grew up. Being homeschooled gave her the gift of time to develop her eye.
Eventually attending the Las Vegas Academy of Arts for two years, where she progressed quickly under the guidance of Natalie Delgado. She then meandered home to Montana where she now centers her art around the outer landscape, mirroring the inner landscape.

Gavelle gets closer to her dreams every day. She creates with the intention of exploration, not finalization.

Life is a balance. Body, mind, spirit. Each must come into harmony in order to create truly and freely. Through dance, yoga, and performing aerial silks, she finds strength and joy in her body. Through ingesting local produce, foraging, gardening, and hunting, she feeds her gut and mind. Through curiosity of plants, planets, and mysticism, she enhances her spirit. With bare feet on the earth, the scent of wildflowers, and the witnessing of leaves dancing in the wind, she roots herself into the creative muse.

An alter summons the ancestors, the muses, and the artists before me to enter the space. Making offerings, lighting candles, and preparing my energy is essential to the practice. I welcome ceremonies to release emotional blocks that inhibit my creativity. Physically cleansing and renewing the alter with each moon cycle mirrors my connection to the lunar, the dark fertile grounds for creation, the divine feminine. The first step to being a creator is allowing the pause, the open void, the silence for recognizing what is already there.
