ON THE EASEL
“Immaculate Degeneration”
Winter spends the summer mourning,
She gives way to her sisters unbashful glow
Her sobs rumble through rivers and streams in her ravenous sorrow
Giving life to ferns, wild strawberries, & buttercups
Shielding herself in glaciers,
In pockets of snow crusted shadow high in the mountain peaks
And she waits for summer to sleep
All she must allow is cry so deep and true only a moment needs to be felt
To be renewed
And the soft rumbling belly of the clouds kiss her awake,
Oh winter we meet again
She stretches and moans across the valley
Crystals coating glass,
unraveling her icy veil & laying it upon
The thrashing rivers
Shhhh, she whispers
And it cracks and hums in response, grateful for her breath
and she sings, oh she sings
Pearlescent lullaby drifts from the sky, tucking the trees in for slumber,
Oh winter, we meet again
The Inspiration board is the first step in any creation, poems, pictures, & colors. From here I’ll create composition sketches, color pallets until the vision is clear.
When the magic of winter returns, she will manifest in oil
